In the year 200X, thanks to Dr. Light's super robot Rockman, the mysterious genius scientist Dr. Wily's ambitions were thwarted and peace was restored to the world.

The comma after 挑む is not necessary here, but was probably written to indicate that the sentence had not ended (since there is a pause at that point in the original game).
