This translation is intended for people who already know English and are learning Japanese. It is not intended to be used to learn English, because the sentences in English may use strange or awkward wording in order to illustrate the vocabulary and grammar of the original Japanese.

Game title

Japanese
Rockman 2 Dr.ワイリーの
English
Rockman 2: The Mystery of Dr. Wily

This could also be read as "Dr. Wily's Mystery".

Intro

Japanese
200X― Dr.ライトの生み出した スーパーロボット ロックマン によって ナゾ天才科学者Dr.ワイリーの野望阻止され 世界平和が よみがえった
English
In the year 200X, thanks to Dr. Light's super robot Rockman, the mysterious genius scientist Dr. Wily's ambitions were thwarted and peace was restored to the world.
Japanese
しかし世界征服たくらむ Dr.ワイリーは、再び ロックマンに戦い挑むべく新たに造り出した 8体のロボットを 送り出したのである・・・。
English
But Dr. Wily, who is plotting world domination, sent out eight robots who are challenging Rockman to a battle once again.

The comma after 挑む is not necessary here, but was probably written to indicate that the sentence had not ended (since there is a pause at that point in the original game).

Item names

Japanese English
メタルブレード Metal Blade
リーフシールド Leaf Shield
バブルリード Bubble Lead
エアーシューター Air Shooter
アトミックファイヤー Atomic Fire
クイックブーメラン Quick Boomerang
タイムストッパー Time Stopper
クラッシュボム Crash Bomb
アイテム[num]号 Item No. [num]

}

Item get!

Japanese
[item name]ヲ ソウビシマス
English
Received equipment: [item name]

Message from Dr. Light

Japanese
Dr.ライト カラ ノ メッセージ デス
English
This is a message from Dr. Light!
Japanese
アイテム[num]ゴウガ カンセイシタ! タダチニ ソウビシタ マエ!!
English
Item No. [num] is complete! Please equip it immediately.

たまえ attaches to the masu stem to form a polite masculine imperative. The game's placement of a space between た and まえ here is very unusual.

Bonus content - Can't Beat Air Man

Just because the wiki's about games doesn't mean we can't have fun with the concept. Here's a translation of the song "Air Man ga Taosenai", also called "Can't Beat Air Man" and similar names.

Japanese
気がついたら 同じ面ばかりばかりプレイ
English
When I notice I've been playing nothing but the same level
Japanese
そしていつも同じ場所死ぬ
English
And I always die in the same place
Japanese
あきらめずに消える足場挑戦するけど
English
Without giving up, I challenge the disappearing steps

足場 literally refers to a place for your feet. In this case it's referring to the game's infamous disappearing blocks. He could handle them if he had Item No. 2, but he needs to beat Air Man for that, which he can't do.

Japanese
すぐに落ちる
English
I fall right down
Japanese
アイテム2号あれば

向こうまで着くけど

English
If I had Item No. 2, I could easily reach the other side, but
Japanese
何回やっても何回やっても
English
No matter how many times I [try to] do it, no matter how many times I [try to] do it

The も here combines with 何回 to convey the idea of "no matter how many times".

Japanese
エアーマンが倒せない
English
I can't beat Air Man
Japanese
あの竜巻何回やってもよけれない
English
No matter how many times I try, I can't avoid that tornado
Japanese
後ろ回って撃ち続けても
English
No matter how many times I get behind him and keep hitting him
Japanese
いずれ飛ばされる
English
Eventually I get blown off into the wind
Japanese
タイム連打試してみたけど
English
I even tried rapid-fire pausing, but
Japanese
竜巻相手じゃ意味無い
English
With the tornado as my opponent, it's meaningless
Japanese
だから絶対勝つために
English
That's why, in my next attempt, in order to definitely win
Japanese
E缶だけ最後まで取っておく
English
If anything, I'll save up just the E-Tanks until the end

TODO — The position of だけ doesn't make sense to me if it has this meaning
